How to update ElastiFlow?

Hi all,

I installed ElastiFlow with the documented quickstart method on Ubuntu. Working great.

Now I was on EF 7.7.2 and according to the Changelog 7.18.1 is the current version.

How to update the entire stack?

I did - apparently at least partly successfully - edit .env and change:

ELASTIFLOW_FLOW_VERSION=7.7.2
ELASTIFLOW_SNMP_VERSION=7.7.2

to

ELASTIFLOW_FLOW_VERSION=7.18.1
ELASTIFLOW_SNMP_VERSION=7.18.1

then redeployed. docker ps shows the new version for the flow collector and the application and all dashboards are working.

I figure that this:

# Version of Elasticsearch. Note: 8.16.4 is the last version to support TSDS for free.
ELASTIC_VERSION=8.16.4

means to leave that entry alone. Similar for KIBANA_VERSION, probably.

But what do I make of this?

FLOW_DASHBOARDS_VERSION=8.14.x
SNMP_DASHBOARDS_VERSION=8.2.x
SNMP_TRAPS_DASHBOARDS_VERSION=8.14.x

I could not find an “Updating ElastiFlow” document in the fundamentally pretty good docs.

Advice or pointers to a fine manual I might have missed much appreciated.

The “quick start” installation is no longer maintained and will soon be removed from the documentation, but to answer your question, the dashboard versions have not changed so you do not need to update those. Here’s a link to the documentation for the dashboards and you can see the versions are 8.14.x, etc.
